Why does my digital camera eat my batteries?
I have a Kodak Z812 IS digital camera, purchased Dec 07...had no trouble with using rechargeable batteries until about a month ago....suddenly they were dying after only 10-15 pics. I bought Kodak rechargeable digital camera batteries, thinking mine had died, even though they still worked great in my canon PS. Anyways, same trouble, sent camera in to Geek Squad.... it was returned to me two weeks later stating they replaced the contacts for the batteries...well I immediately went home, took out freshly charged batteries...and voila I got 15 shots before they died! If I bring the camera back to best buy they will have to send it back in again. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks Pey- but as I mentioned the contacts were all just replaced...and less than one hour later, freshly charged new batteries were dead after 15 shots. Do you still think this is the reason? I will try cleaning them off anyways and try again. Thanks.
Yes MommytoT... , I had the same problem for four years and finally solved the problem. Had talked with camera support people and researched the problem on the Internet. I tried everything with only limited success, but this really works. It has been over two months since I tried this and the batteries are still working perfectly in my camera.

The secret to making digital cameras work better is having good electrical contacts between the batteries and the camera.
Digital cameras require lots of power. If electrical contacts are not really good, this can cause lots of problems so battery and camera contacts must be cleaned properly. Batteries may be fully charged, but will be viewed as low if contacts are not really good. The LCD display is a low steady load, but when lens extension, optical zoom, focus, and flash charging are added in the capture mode; the load is very heavy. With bad contacts, cameras do strange things like making bad pictures or shutting off with the lens out.
